Carmelle Beaugelin Caldwell is an interdisciplinary artist and visual theologian whose work explores how we inherit histories of migration across generations, and how those histories affect the ways in which we move and believe in the world. Working across acrylic, oil, and mixed media, Carmelle builds layered compositions where lines, spheres, and fragmentary figures seek to make visible the cosmic particularities and epistemologies of Afro-diasporic women whose personal, spiritual, and national identities continue to be formed in negotiation with their circumstances.
